Thank You For Attending our 2011 Annual Meeting

by Leanne Cianfrini on 12/06/11

Thank you for joining us this past weekend in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans for our annual meeting.  Our conference was well attended, featured several excellent speakers on a broad variety of pain-related topics, and offered regional networking opportunities and discussions with vendors.  The conference hotel, the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon, was beautifully decorated for the holidays.  It was steps away from amazing dining options and, of course, the French Quarter nightlife.  Please check back in the next few weeks for postings of meeting highlights and photos from the conference.

We are pleased to announce that next year's meeting will be held once again in New Orleans the first weekend of December.  Save your appetites, bring the family, and we hope you'll tell your colleagues and join us again for another exciting meeting from the Southern Pain Society.

Alternate Hotel is Now Available for Booking

by Leanne Cianfrini on 10/20/11

Hi everyone,

Our block of rooms at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Bourbon is now full and the hotel is booked solid for the conference nights.  We have secured an alternate "overflow" room block at The Astor Crowne Plaza at 739 Canal Street and Bourbon Street.  This is two blocks away from the Royal Sonesta and they are offering the same rate ($209 + tax per night) as the host hotel.  Due to a larger convention in town the same weekend, this is the closest hotel and the best rate available.  These rooms will only be available for a short time, so please call quickly (1-888-696-4806) and ask for the SPS rate.  Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Great news about Psychology Credits for the SPS 2011 Meeting

by Leanne Cianfrini on 10/19/11

Due to the work of Dr. Datz and our VCU planning coordinator, John Boothby, we have obtained approval by the Kentucky Psychological Association for 12.5 continuing education credits for our December meeting.  See details below:

"The workshops within this conference have been approved for CE credits by the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA).  KPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.  KPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  KPA is also approved to offer professional continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology, the Kentucky Board of Social Work, the Kentucky Board of Professional Art Therapists and the Kentucky Board of Professional Counselors.  You must attend workshops in their entirety to obtain CE credit."
